Labcorp offers a variety of DNA testing options. It should be noted that the following prices are the base amount.
The more people tested, the higher the price will be.
The difference between Legal and Private Tests
A private test is taken by a DNA testing professional, and therefore can be used in court cases involving adoption, child custody, immigration, and more. A private test can only be used to give ‘peace of mind’ or personal information.
How do the At-Home Tests work?
The process is smooth and hassle-free.
- Purchase a DNA test
- Collect sample using a cotton swab
- Ship sample to the lab
The tests are reviewed twice to ensure quality and results will be delivered within 3-5 days.
Are Legal Tests more complicated?
Not at all, but there are a couple of important differences, designed to provide confidence in the validity of the test, in a legal setting.
An appointment must be scheduled to prove that the sample was taken from the correct person, and the DNA is returned in a ‘tamper-evident shipping envelope’ which protects the validity and security of the test result.
What to expect from an appointment
Labcorp takes great care to make the process as quick, safe, and comfortable as possible while maintaining your dignity and safety.
Privacy is a key priority, as it knows how uncomfortable and distressing these procedures can be.
In case you’re worried about attending a facility during the COVID-19 pandemic, Labcorp has specified certain service hours for vulnerable patients.
A ‘Wait Where You’re Comfortable’ program has also been introduced, so that you can wait in the car and meet your technician in the check-in area once you receive a text message.
I don’t have health insurance. What are my options?
Unfortunately, without health insurance, you’ll have to pay for any tests upfront, before specimen samples are taken.
How will my information be protected?
Personally identifying information is only taken by Labcorp with your voluntary consent. You can erase any personal information taken by Labcorp at any time, or request that it be deleted.
